Christopher “Chris” Shawn Wilkes, age 43, of Carthage, NC, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at his home.

He was born in Dade County, Florida on April 17, 1972, to Jimmy Russell Wilkes, Sr. and Kay Smith Wilkes. Chris worked heavy equipment in the construction industry and loved mowing grass and the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his mother.

He is survived by his wife, Lanette Wilkes; daughter, Brittany Wilkes; sons, Jeffery Gautier and Christopher Shawn Wilkes, Jr. and fiancé Ashley Redman; father, Jimmy Russell Wilkes, Sr.; brother, Jimmy Wilkes, Jr.; sisters, Karen Whitt and husband Shane and Tammy Wilkes Pattishall all of Sanford.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Redman officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service also at the funeral home.
