Tribute to Mrs. Blanche Hill

Mrs. Hill, who had been a great and patient sufferer for the last few years of her life, passed quietly away at the residence of her son-in-law, Dr. Brown, East Main street, Friday evening, September 24, in the forty-ninth year of her age. Cut off in the very prime of womanhood, she has left a vacancy in the hearts and homes of her loved ones, which can nevermore be filled.

Mrs. Hill was born in Philadelphia February 23, 1848, and was a daughter of Charles M. and Jennie N. Reynolds, deceased. Shortly after, her parents took up their abode in Shippensburg. She was married on December 21, 1873, to Harrison S. Lutz, a druggist of Allegheny city. Dr. Lutz died in April, 1878. During this union two children were born her, Evelyn, wife of Dr. S. G. A. Brown, of this place, and Bessie Nevin Lutz. Mrs. Lutz was subsequently married in December, 1885, to Mr. Henry Hill, a journalist of Newark, N. J., who died in September, 1892. There are four sisters surviving her: Elizabeth M., wife of Mr S. S. Shyrock, of this place; Mary Pierce, widow of Mr. W. H. Knox, of Sevickley, Pa.; Miss Jane N. Reynolds and Catharine M., wife of Mr. F. L. Knode, of Harrisburg, Pa.

Although Mrs. Hill had been a sufferer so long, she never murmured nor was discontent. Her whole life was that of a typical Christian. she was always bright and cheerful, never despondent; continually putting her unbounded trust in God, and expressing her gratitude to Him for His goodness and mercy. She was a most devoted mother, ever striving for the best interests of her children. Another slender cord of life is broken; another hallowed place is vacant. And though these years to mortals given are filled with pain and grief, yet her children's loss is her eternal gain; her heaven their everlasting hope. She is free from all the storms of life, with its pains, its sorrows, and its weary toils, and though the charmed family circle has been broken, because of her exemplary christian life and character, we know that all is well, and that her choicest hopes have been more than realized, and the peace which passeth all understanding is hers.
