Phyllis Joan (nee McCormick) Stacy, age 83 of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on May 25, 2015 at her residence. She was a 1949 Graduate of Henry C. Conrad High School of Wilmington. A Delaware native and life long resident, Phyllis was the youngest daughter of James and Edythe (nee Reid) McCormick, born on November 16, 1931. She was a master homemaker, a voracious reader and an expert at knitting, crocheting, sewing and needlework. She also loved quilting and doll making. You could always find her knitting baby sweaters, just to give away. She loved her flowers, plants and dabbling in horticulture. Phyllis was always creating something and loved teaching others her crafts. She adored giving away her lovingly made creations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth H. Stacy, Sr. passing in 1998. She is survived by 1 sister, Dorothy Jean Owens of Pike Creek, DE, daughters; Robin L. Mahaffey (Ted) and their daughters; Kim Hunter and Theresa Wright of Post Deposit, MD, Diana W Marvel (Michael) and their sons; Nicholas and Aaron of Dover, DE, sons; Kenneth H. Stacy, Jr. (Michelle) and their daughters, Ashley Marshalewski, Krystin and Meghan Stacy of Middletown, DE and Kevin J. Stacy (Michele) and their children William, Savannah and Aidan of Townsend, DE. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial service will be held at the Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark on Friday, June 5 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery.
