Bernell (Bernie the Frenchman) Bistodeau was born November 22, 1916, in Foreston, Minnesota, the son of Fred (Frank) and Lena (Merklind) Bistodeau. He graduated from high school at Princeton. On December 31, 1952, he was united in marriage to Audrey Leander. Four sons were born to the couple. They became residents of Alexandria in 1981 where Bernie built and operated the King Koin Launderette. Throughout his life his two main interests were family activities and fishing.
Bernice died at the Douglas County Hospital December 12, 1993 at the age of 67. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Victor, Elroy, Jerome, Morris and Ervin; and one sister Betty Ann.
Surviving him are his wife Audrey of Alexandria; sons: David and wife Debbie of Alexandria; Frank and wife, Lisa of Alexandria; Greg of Alexandria; Ron of Chino Hills, CA; one brother: Ralph of Minneapolis; one sister: ODell Degelman of Minneapolis and three grandchildren; Michael, Jordan and Nicole.
Funeral services were held December 15, 1993 at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Ron Otterson and Pastor Keith Lentz officiating. Interment was in Kinkead Cemetery with Everett Rosen, Jim Schoenrock, Greg Carlson, Lloyd Dawson, Ron Richardson and Lee Ostendorf serving as pallbearers. Arrangements with Anderson Funeral Home.
