Danielle Kay Mitchell, age 23, passed away at her home, 24209 State Highway #408, Cambridge Springs, Pa. on Tuesday evening, May 23, 2006. Born on November 23, 1982 in Frankfurt, Germany, she is the daughter of Kimberly Kay Mitchell and Larry Paul Gill. She was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 14 and fought a courageous battle with the illness ever since. Living all of her life in the Cambridge Springs area, she graduated from Cambridge Springs High School in 2001. While in school she was active as a cheerleader. She then attended Edinboro University for a year and following that, during the school years of 2004 and 2005, she was a behavioral specialist in the emotional support class at Saegertown High School. At Saegertown she was involved as a cheer leading coach. She did volunteer work for the Make-A-Wish Foundation which resulted from her being a recipient of that program at the age of 15. She also was a volunteer for the Erie Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In addition, she was a member of Cambridge Springs American Legion Post #381 Ladies Auxiliary. An avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, she also enjoyed scrap booking and collecting duck and dolphin stuffed animals and articles. Surviving her in addition to her mother with whom she made her home are her maternal grandparents - Richard B. Mitchell and his wife, Thelma of Niland, Calif.; three uncles - Bruce K. Mitchell and his wife, Peg of Newtown, Pa.; Robert Mitchell of Tulsa, Okla.; and Randy Mitchell and his friend, Linda Collins of Escondido, Calif.; and a special boy friend - Joe Bauer of McKean. Also surviving is her dog, Buddy.
