Essie Jo Taylo, daughter of the late Addie Nichols Pender and Conard Pender, was born in Ruble on Sept. 28, 1938. She passed away at her residence in St. Charles on May 10, 2015, at the age of 76.
Jo was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. She enjoyed going to casinos and playing Bingo. Jo's greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren going to the park and eating ice cream. She also had many friends and loved spending time with them.
Jo is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Tom) Shrove of Grand Junction, Colo., and Terry (Nick) Abner of Columbus, Ind.; give grandchildren; four great-grandchildren,; five sisters, Alice Gore of Park Hills, Betty Brawley of Ellington, Nettie Jean Bova of St. Charles, Linda Frey of St. Charles and Glinda Kreitler of House Springs. Jo will be deeply missed by her family and many friends who will mourn her passing.
Visitation was held Thursday, May 14, and funeral services followed at McSpadden Funeral Home, with Kenny Long officiating. Burial was in Ellington Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Nick Abner, Tom Shrove, Robert Walker, Kirk Brawley, Greg Brawley and Jr. Bova. Arrangements were under the direction of McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
