David L. Whittlesey, Jr. 90, beloved husband of the late Ramona (Foss) Whittlesey, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Hartford Hospital after a short illness.

Affectionately called "Whip" by his family and friends, he was born in Hartford to the late David and Jennet (Hurlburt) Whittlesey, raised in the Elmwood section of West Hartford, and resided in Windsor since 1951.

Mr. Whittlesey served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II aboard the HS Maetsuycker. An accountant for several Connecticut companies, he retired to his garden in 1982 and enjoyed following the Detroit Tigers and UConn basketball.

He is survived by his sons Scott Whittlesey and his wife Renée of Enfield, Keith Whittlesey of Windsor, Rodney Whittlesey and his wife Barbara of Wethersfield, and David A. Whittlesey of Windsor; his daughter Donna Scavetta of Newington, granddaughter Krista Scavetta, and grandson Taylor Scavetta; and his sisters Ada Beckwith of Ipswich, MA and Mary Gledhill and her husband Arthur of Niantic.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Friday, May 29 at East Morris Cemetery, Rte 109 Morris.
