William Lyles Worthington, 68, of Mayo, died of a heart attack Wednesday at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Born and educated in Washington, D.C., Mr. Worthington graduated from the former Devitt Preparatory School.
A land surveyor, he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers and private companies until forming his own business, Worthington and Associates in Rockville, which he operated for 10 years.
He enjoyed golfing and boating.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Ruth H. Worthington; one daughter, Gloria W. Porter of Severna Park; three sons, William L. Worthington Jr. of Rockville and Hilleary O. and Barry O. Worthington of Silver Spring; and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church at Chevy Chase Circle in Washington D.C. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetary. Arrangements by Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home in Silver Spring.
