Mary Jewel Lorch Medley, 87 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at her home.
Jewel was born September 16, 1927 in Stanly County to the late Matthew Lorch and the late Onnie Lowder Lorch. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Rejay Medley; daughter, Linda Hathcock; brother, Cecil Clay Lorch; sister, Bessie Lee Lorch; grandson, Terry Huneycutt; and two great-grandchildren, Alison and Derrick.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 1 pm Monday in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Mark Mabry. The burial will be at Canton Baptist Church Cemetery, 24615 Endy Road, Albemarle. At other times the family will be gathering at the home of Billy and Susan Hathcock, 18900 Huneycutt Mill Rd., Albemarle.
She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Morton and husband Roger, and Freda Smith, both of Albemarle; son, Michael Medley and wife, Casandra of Keyser, WV; grandchildren, Todd Hathcock, Pamela Faulkner and husband David, Eric Morton and wife Tandy, Ricky Treece and wife Melissa, Mark Treece, Jerry Huneycutt, Felicia Owens and husband Jeremy, and Eveie Dancy and husband, Richard; eight great-grandchildren, Jamie, Adam, Melanie, Brandon, Jacob and Haley; sister, Helen Harwood and husband Ray of Albemarle,
Jewel loved gardening, flowers, and crocheting.
