U.S. Veteran Robert Noel Brown, age 83, of Somerset, departed this life on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.
Robert was born on September 9, 1931, in the Bandy Community of Pulaski County, to the late Virgil and Dessie Hamm Brown. He was a veteran, serving his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Robert married Carolyn Smith on December 23, 1955, in Danville. They have one son from their union. He was a self-employed farmer and was a tractor parts salesman for over 24 years for Bullock Ford, Pulaski Ford, North 27 Tractor Parts and Todd Ford Tractor.
He is survived by his loving son, Robert Eugene “Buck” (and Brandy) Brown, of Somerset; his beloved grandson, Noel Eugene Conway Brown, also of Somerset; his niece, Beverly Ann (and Marvin) Stevens, of Somerset; his nephew, B.J. (and Elsa) Brown, Jr., of Eubank; and his special friends, Flonnie, Tommy and T.W. Todd and Dorothy McKinney.
Preceding Robert in death are his parents; his former wife, Carolyn, who passed away May 1, 2008; and one brother, Burgess Brown.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 1, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Barry Hurst officiating. Interment will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lee Childers, Cary McKinney, Jerry McKinney, Eugene McKinney, Eddie McKinney and T.W. Todd.
The family requests donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or to the Poplar Grove Cemetery.
