A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at Cherrywood Village. Born Jay Edwin Turner in Seattle to Oscar and Vara Turner, Jay was the eldest of two sons. He graduated from the University of Washington and served in the U.S. Merchant Marines. In Portland, he worked for BPA, then PG&E, retiring an engineer in 1976. Jay was married to Ruby Jean from 1951 until her death in 2004. He is survived by his daughters, Julia Harries, Gail Jenkins and Shirley Curtis; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A military ceremony will be held in late January.
