Russell was born in Grayling, MI on August 16, 1946, a son of the late Elvira and Leonard Apps.
He graduated from Roscommon High School.
He served in the US Army in the Vietnam War.
He was self employed as a licensed contractor
Enjoyed deer hunting with his granddaughters and friends, and running hounds.
Survived by his son Russell Apps of Grayling and granddaughters Shentele, Chelsea, and Bailey Apps of

Preceded in death by his parents and son Dennis.
A memorial service will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home
on Thursday, December 29th, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Lyle Studer officiating.
Interment will be at Crestview Cemetery in Markey Township, Roscommon County.
