He was born on March 2, 1932, on the family farm in Springview, Carlisle. He was one of twelve children born to Stuart and Ida (Morrison) McKeehan.
John started farming on one of the family farms in Springview; eventually purchasing his first farm on the Ritner Highway in Penn Twp.
Through the years, he purchased additional farms in Penn, Southampton, West Pennsboro, and North Dickinson Townships.
He spent his whole life enjoying farming. John was a member of the White Circle, Eagles, Moose Lodge and was a social member of the American Legion and the V.F.W., all of Carlisle.
He is survived by his children; Donald McKeehan of Carlisle, Carol McKeehan of Mechanicsburg, and Nancy McCullough and Roger McKeehan, both of Newville.
Also, surviving are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, three brothers; Paul and William McKeehan, both of Carlisle and Robert McKeehan of Boiling Springs, four sisters; Shirley Kipps, Margaret Mowery, Barbara Straub, all of Carlisle and Betty McBride of North Carolina.
John was predeceased by one son, Johnny McKeehan, who passed away on May 28, 2006, three brothers; Parker, James, and Edgar McKeehan, and one sister, Lois Chipetta.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Monday, June 1, 2015, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St, Carlisle, with Pastor Richard Reese officiating.
The family kindly requests casual dress for John's services. Interment will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
