German Philosopher, Astronomer. Known as one of the most important exponents of the Enlightenment, and progenitor of German Idealism. His is the aphorism "have the courage to use their own intelligence." In 1755 he formulated the theory of the primordial nebula from which originated the Universe. After attending the University of Konigsberg, now Kaliningrad, he exercised the profession of private tutor from 1755 until 1770. In the same year he obtained the Chair of Metaphysics and Logic at that University. When the University of Halle offered him a Chair more prestigious and more remunerative, he refused because he felt that his city was the perfect setting for him. He has published several works that have become classics of modern philosophy and astronomy, including "Allgemeine und Theorie des Naturgeschichte Himmels", "Kritik der reinen Vernunft", "Kritik der praktischen Vernunft", and "Anthropology in pragmatischer Hinsicht".
