E. Douglas (Doug) Reed, 88, died Wednesday May 27, 2015 in Borger. Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at the 1st Baptist Church in Stinnett with Stanley and Jerri Aylor officiating. Burial will follow at Stinnett Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Doug was born February 23, 1927 to Harley and Gladys Reed in Ratcliff, Arkansas. He worked for J. M. Huber Corporation and retired in 1994 as head of the gas department. After retirement Doug and Oletha ran cattle and raised horses. He was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving in the U. S. Army in the infantry from 1943 until 1946.

Doug married Oletha Henderson on December 5, 1947 in Borger. He loved to hunt and fish and especially bow hunting with Oletha. He loved God, his family and his country. He was loved by his children and grandchildren and was big brother to all of his brothers and sisters and a very good son. Doug was a member of the Elks Lodge who will have a special ceremony at the cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Casey Reed Aylor, two brothers, John Reed and Fred Reed, nephews Rick Reed, Bob Jarvis, Scotty Rannals and Bobby Jack Porter, nieces Stephanie Nutter and Erin Fletcher Reynolds.

Doug is survived by his wife of 68 years Oletha, his son Larry Reed and his wife Nannette of Amarillo, his daughter Jerri Aylor and her husband Stanley of Stinnett, his grandchildren; Stan Aylor II, Grayson Reed, Reed Aylor, Payton Aylor, Jac Colombo, Melissa Reed, Allyson and Dan Colombo, Mackenzie Aylor and Taylor Bentley, his brother Jack Reed and his wife Sue of Amarillo, his sister Dora Lee Jarvis of Stinnett and sisters in law Betty Reed and Velma Lemons.

Casket Bearers will be Stan Aylor II, Grayson Reed, Reed Aylor, Dan Colombo, Blaine Reed, Eddie Reed, Jason Reed and Billy Jack Reed. Pallbearers to be honored are Mark Cantrell, Matt Chisum, Rooster Dawson, James Griffin, Mack Hoel, Rick Irvin, Tony McCall, Bobby Montgomery, Gary Newberry, Travis Reger, Eugene Shirley and Albert Stegall.

The family requests that you make a donation to your favorite charity in memory of Doug.
