MR. TRUETT

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Mr. John David "J.D." Truett Sr., 88, of Cleveland, formerly of Lanett, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004 at his residence.

Funeral services are scheduled Thursday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with the Revs. Louis Upshaw and James F. Truett officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Baptist Church Cemetery in Lanett.

Mr. Truett is survived by his wife, Arrie (J.V.) Winston Truett of Cleveland; three sons, John W. (Stephanie) Truett and Michael (Sandra) Truett, both of Cleveland, and the Rev. James F. Truett of Columbus, Ga.; four daughters, Rosetta (Louis) Patrick and LaVerne T. (Danny) Etheridge, both of Cleveland, Rubydean Garrett and Glenda Jo Heard of Lanett; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Willie L. (Charlene) Bailey of Louisville, Ky.; four brothers-in-law, Jessie (Dorothy) Winston and Early (Ruby) Winston, both of Cleveland, Welzy Winston of Lanett and Lamar (Mary) Winston of Montgomery, Ala.; seven sisters-in-law, Frances Boyd, Mildred (J.C.) Whitlow, Mattie (Tommy) Willis and Eva Mae Truett, all of Lanett, Jennivie (Willie Lee) Heard and Dorothy (John Wesley) Thompson, both of West Point, and Susie Mae Truett of Louisville, Ky.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Truett was born in Chambers County Oct. 22, 1916. He was retired from Mor-Flow Heater Inc. with more than 25 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Truett was the son of the late Mr. Clifford (Sr.) and Mattie Lou (Winston) Truett. He was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. A son, John David Truett Jr., five brothers, R.B. and Benjamin Winston, Robert Truett, Clifford Truett Jr. and Charlie Bailey, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 15 from 7 until 9 p.m. at M.W. Lee Mortuary.

The remains will lie in state at the church Thursday, Dec. 16 from 1 p.m until the funeral hour.

The family may be contacted at the residence of Mr. Tommy and Mrs. Mattie (Tissy) Willis, 1828 23rd St. SW, Lanett.
