Benjamin Franklin Ovard, age 91, passed away October 26th, 1999 in Sandy, Utah.

He was born August 20, 1908 in Rexburg, Idaho, the seventh child of William Martin and Mina May Ovard. He married Helen Agnes Farnsworth June 1932 in the Logan Temple.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings. He was a teacher, bookkeeper, butcher, sexton of Holladay Cemetery, manager of Wasatch Cabinet, and manager of Douglas Metals in his 56 years of employment.

Dad was an avid gardener and shared his flowers and produce with all who could use them. He and his wife, Helen, were awarded a first place plaque in the Tribune Home Beautification contest in 1992 in the Sr. division.

He is survived by five children, Douglas W. (Marilyn), Sandy, UT; Janice Ault (Robert), Moroni, UT; Richard D. (Minerva), Sandy, UT; Diana McRae (Bruce), Bonaire, GA; Martin Samuel (Reva), Sandy, UT. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Ruth Hammond, Boise ID; Maxine Orme, Sandy, UT; and Norene Peterson, Paul, ID.

Preceded in death by wife Helen, November 1997; granddaughter Caroline Ovard; three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Sat. October 30, 12 noon at the Jenkins Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S.State, Murray, where friends may call Friday 6-8pm and Sat.one hour prior to services. Interment Holladay Memorial Park.
