Laura "Jean" McFarlan Hoffman, 92, passed away March 5, 2015, at Atria St. Joseph's Assisted Living in Jupiter, FL with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. Jean was born on August 3, 1922, in Cincinnati, Ohio where she spent her childhood. She met her future husband, Ltc. Paul M. Hoffman, while in sixth grade, and together they had four children and traveled the world for his Army assignments. Paul predeceased her after 66 years of marriage in 2009. She is survived by 3 of her children, Judith Ann Hoffman of Portland, Oregon; Patricia Jean Anderson of Jupiter, and Katherine Sue Beasley of Ormond Beach. Her son, John Thomas Hoffman, and her granddaughter Shean McConnell predeceased both Jean and Paul. She was survived by 3 grandchildren; Shad McConnell of Portland, Oregon, Tobit McLean of Daytona Beach and Laura Ileana Anderson of Jupiter. Shortly after her death, her first great granddaughter was born. A memorial service will be held at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home at 250 Center Street in Jupiter on Saturday, May 30 at 11:00 am, followed by an informal gathering at the Anderson home in Jupiter. Jean will be interred with her husband at the South Florida National Cemetery.
