Born near Pine Bluff, Plum Bayou Township, Jefferson County, Arkansas.

Son of George W. Thomas Sr. and Fannie Bradley, brother of noted blues musicians Beulah "Sippie" Wallace and Hersal Thomas.

The known children of this family of which there may have been 13 were: Florence (1880), George Washington Jr. (1883-1937), Josephine (1886), Callie (April 1888), Lucy (Lucille) (July 1891), Willie (female) (Feb 1894), John H. (1896) (not with family in 1910 census), Beulah "Sippie" Wallace (1898-1986), Myrtle (about 1902), Hersal (1906-1926). (Those without birth month shown were born January or June.)


He married between about 1903 and 1904 to Octavia Malone who one posting presumed died between 1905 and 1907. They had one daughter, blues singer Hociel Thomas Tebo (1904-1952).
