Kenneth Leon Prince 1921 ~ 2010 Our beloved companion, father, and grandfather Kenneth Leon Prince, 88, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2010 surrounded by his family, following an accidental fall in his home. Ken was number nine of 10 children born to Edith Pace and John Prince. Ken attended school in Price, Utah, including two years at the College of Eastern Utah. He then graduated from the University of Utah in 1947. He was a devoted University of Utah fan, and always appreciated what an education has done for his family. Ken was a member of the 1938 Carbon High School championship football team and was named first team All-State football for all three years at Carbon High School. He loved the memories of friends from his days in Carbon County. Ken was sealed to Emma Jane Green on November 10, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. "She has been my best friend and beloved companion for 65 years." Ken served in World War II in both Maritime Services (2nd Mate) and in the U.S. Navy (Ensign USNR). He served on ships on both the Pacific and European theatres of war. Ken was employed as a financial officer for Continental Oil Co., Shubach Jewelry, and Utah Railway. He subsequently served as District Clerk/Treasurer and Deputy Superintendent of the Jordan School District for 26 years. He was a member of the Board of Directors at Alta View Hospital. Ken was an active and faithful member of the LDS Church, holding many offices and callings including elder's quorum president and member of the Sandy Stake High Council. Ken will long be remembered for his beautiful yard and flowers which he loved to care, and for which he received much recognition. He loved football, golf, and traveling around the country with his sweet wife in their mobile home. Most of all he loved spending time with his beloved wife and family. He is survived by his loving wife, Emma, children: Robert (Diane) Prince, Centerville, Alan (Michelle) Prince, Lehi, Dwight (Cynthia) Prince, Sandy, Colleen (Mitch) Bailey, Park City, UT, Karen (Tim) Powell, South Jordan, UT; 32 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, four brothers, and one beautiful grandson, Adam Spencer Bailey. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 26, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Jordan 2nd Ward, 9331 South 300 East, Sandy, UT. A viewing will be held Sunday, July 25, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State St., and again on Monday at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment at Sandy City Cemetery.
