Mrs. Emma Thompson died Sunday evening, November 26, about 8 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Dilling. She had been a patient sufferer for nearly six months and a trained nurse from Chicago has been taking care of her for many weeks. She was 48 years old. Her husband, Dr. Thompson, died in January 1897. He formerly practiced medicine at Sabetha, going from there to Topeka. Mrs. Thompson's family home was at Muscotah. She is survived by two sisters, three brothers and four children: Chas. Thompson, of St. Joseph; Louis Thompson, of Granada; Mrs. Tillie Crawford, of Kansas City; and Mrs. Dilling, of Hiawatha. The funeral was held at the Dilling home on Tuesday afternoon and internment made in the Hiawatha cemetery. Rev. L. L. Hassenpflug had charge of the services.
