Myra C. Walker, age 86, formerly of Kearney died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the Hattiesburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Funeral services will be Monday morning, June 1, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Main officiating. Graveside services and burial will be Monday afternoon at 2:00 in the Cozad Cemetery.

Myra was born January 3, 1929 to Harm and Emma (Cross) Franzen. She attended country school at District 88 and then was a graduate of Gothenburg High School in 1946. She worked as a secretary for the Stanton Maytage Company in Gothenburg for two years. She was married on Oct. 3, 1948 and was a stay-at-home mom from then until 1981. During this time she became a member of the Cozad Woman’s Club and later served as the President in 1970 and 1971. She was also a member of the Cozad Toastmistress Club and was president of that organization in 1973. In 1981 she started directing tours for North American Tours, a division of Lincoln Tour and Travel for four years. She then began directing tours for Allied Tour and Travel from 1985 until she retired in 1997. She lived in Cozad for 43 ½ years before moving to Kearney on June 1, 1992. She taught 5th grade Sunday School at American Lutheran Church in Cozad from 1966-1969 and Bible School during the young years of her two sons, Kerry and Grant.

Myra is survived by her two sons, Kerry Walker and his wife Peg of Tulsa, OK and Grant Walker and his wife Nancy of Hattiesburg, MS; 3 grandchildren, Ash, Joshua and Hope.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Lorraine Crawford, Evelyn Feist and Vernice Adle.
