John J. Bollinger, 66, of 614 SW 28, died Thursday in Mercy Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Resthaven Cemetery.

Bollinger was born in Byars; and came to Oklahoma City in 1926. He was a retired City Bus Co. employee and was a Lutheran. Survivors include his wife, Pearl; two sons, John Jr., 529 SW 26, and Danny, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Carol West, 1328 SW 61 Terr.; and six sisters, Mrs. Beulah Wilson, Mrs. Pearl Gillis, and Mrs. Ethel Leachman, all of California; Mrs. Cora McDonald, Lamesa, Texas; Mrs. Mary Wright, Blanchard, and Mrs. Ora Johnston, Pauls Valley.

Note from his daughter Carol:

John was a diesel mechanic and worked for the Oklahoma Transportation Co. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church; the name was later changed to Faith Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City. His hobby was hunting, then making knives out of scrap metal. He was very close to his sister Mary and her family; she lived in Coal Oklahoma, had 13 boys, his, hers, and theirs. Times were tough, so [John] hunted and took food to her and her family [in Coal].

The children of John and Pearl:

John J. Bollinger Jr., married Shirley Mullenix; she passed away, then he married Lois Hinkle.

Virginia Carol Bollinger, married Claude West Jr. in 1961, divorced in 1972, married James A. Rosacker in 1973.
