Corporal Joshua Adam Murphy USMC, age 29 of Elkin, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born In Yadkin County on July 3, 1985 To Mrs. Ruth Elaine Murphy Cave. Josh graduated Surry Central High School in 2003, and the USMC Boot Camp, after which he served two tours of duty in Iraq. He was a full time student at Surry Community College and worked in construction.
He is survived by his parents, Larry and Ruth Cave of Elkin; His Brother and Sister-in-law, Robert and Jessica Cave of Elkin; Uncles, Larry David Murphy of the home, Jimmy and Lisa Cave of Elkin, Samuel and Rita Murphy of Nashville, Daniel and Lartha Murphy of Salisbury, Tim and Lori Murphy of Rutherfordton; One Aunt, Deborah-Davidson-Murphy of Lawrenceburg, TN.; Special Friends, Andrew Cave of Mount Airy, Sean Brunner of Durham, Zach York of Elkin and his USMC brothers; His Godson, Aiden Brunner of Durham and several Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, R.J. and Effie Murphy And Larry Hugh Cave; Great Grandparents Jim and Betty Cave; One Aunt, Carol Jean Butner; His Uncle Johnny Evan Murphy and Cousin, Matthew Cave.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 29, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. The Funeral will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 30, 2015 in the Moody-Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Murphy-Cave Family Cemetery with military rites. Flowers will be accepted or Memorials may be made to the family to help with final expenses.
