It is with great sadness that we mourn Leland James Cluff, our husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He passed away peacefully on May 25, 2015 in Bountiful.

Leland was born March 12, 1928 in Salt Lake City. He was the third child of Jesse H. and Eloise Ashman Cluff. He grew up in Garfield and Salt Lake City.

He attended Cyprus High School and at the age of twenty he enlisted in the Air Force, where he served twenty years as an aircraft mechanic.

He attained the rank of Master Staff Sargent and was involved in the Occupation of Japan (1949-1950), served in both Korea with the 9th Fighter Squadron (1951-1952) and Vietnam (Thailand) with the 479th and 435th Tactical Fighter Squadron (1966-1967).

Leland married Kathryn Marie Morsch on February 11, 1957. They had one son, Mark L. Cluff. He was preceded in death by his first wife. He later married Frankie Joy Triplet.

After retiring from the military, he returned to Utah and made Bountiful his home. He went to work for the General Services Administration, from which he later retired.

Leland was a kind and giving person, willing to give you a hand in your time of need. He enjoyed gardening, taking drives, football (go Broncos!), and baseball (Rockies).

Leland will live in our memories and be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Joy; son, Mark (Anne Marie); grandchildren, Emily, Brian, and Michael; and sister, Helen Campbell, all of Salt Lake City. He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Marjorie Newlander, Shirley Ericson, and Beverly Carlson; and one brother, Gordon Cluff.

The family would like to thank the North Canyon Care Center in Bountiful for the loving care and devotion they showed to Leland.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Friday.
