Arthur Will Matthews, Sr. was born March 29, 1944 to the late Lee Grant and Vicey Matthews in Stevenson, Alabama. He departed his life on Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Nashville General Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
He was a member of the Saint Paul AME Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was a retired employee of the Mount Vernon Restaurant in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Grant and Vicey Matthews, his brothers George Knoxie and Joe Lewis Matthews, his sisters Bobby Gene Matthews and Stella Ruth Cunningham, a son Samuel LeBron Matthews and Mother and Father-in-Law Sam and Georgia Matthews.
He leaves to cherish his memories to a devoted wife - Princess Matthews; a son - Arthur Will (Lanette) Matthews Jr. and a daughter - Gwendolyn Renaee (Charles) Simpson all of Stevenson, AL; a daughter-in-law - Kellie Mitchell Matthews: grandchildren - Jamara Matthews, Steven Matthews, Arrian Matthews, Leshiea Matthews, Samuel Matthews and Austin Blevins all of Stevenson, AL; Alix (Duston) Finley and Albani Mattews of Chattanooga, TN; Arland (Billie Kay) Matthews of South Pittsburg, TN; Kelli (Tabitha) Matthews and Tanzania Matthews of Nashville, TN and Mercedes Hutchins of Huntsville, AL; sisters - Julie (Elmore) Brown, Karolyn Kelly and Mary Matthews of Stevenson, AL; brother - Billy Matthews of Stevenson AL; sister-in-law - Lucille Matthews of Hollywood, AL and brother-in-law - Tommy Cunningham of Stevenson AL; dear friends - William Lankford and Charles Cobb and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
