Carol John “C.J.” Meacham, 86 of McGregor died Friday, May 22, 2015 at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center Hospice in Duluth. He was born December 24, 1928 in Workman Township, Aitkin County to George and Jenny (Edwards) Meacham. He attended Rat Lake School and McGregor High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WW II. After the war he worked as an iron ore drill operator in many parts of the U.S., Greenland, and Iceland. C.J. was united in marriage to Lois Kormann on January 29, 1961 in Granite Falls. He attended Molar Barber School in Minneapolis and then owned and operated Meacham Barber Shop in South Minneapolis. He also owned and managed income/rental properties. C.J. enjoyed gardening and cutting and splitting wood. He served on the Aitkin County Hospice Board and as a volunteer. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, past president of McGregor Lions, and a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters. C.J. is survived by his wife Lois, Daughter and son-in-law: Susan (Thomas) Viker of Arden Hills, Son and daughter-in-law: David (Debra) Meacham of Coon Rapids, Grandchildren: Fred and John Viker, Sister: Dorothy Groth of Cromwell, Many other relatives and friends. Memorial service will be 1:00P.M. – Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church, McGregor. Reverend Erika Foss will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Pine Needle Cemetery. Arrangements are with McGregor Funeral Home in McGregor.
