DUNCAN E. Martin Jr. - Emmett Martin "Marty" Duncan, Jr., 81, died November 18, 2007, at Naples Community Hospital. Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, he was the son of the late Emmett Martin and Marjorie (nee Childers) Duncan. Marty was a WWII Navy veteran who served on the USS California. He was a graduate of the University of Kansas and a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. An avid golfer, Marty, was a past member of the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio and Wyndemere Country Club in Naples, Florida. He retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas as marketing manager of the Marine Products Division after being with the company for thirty-five years. Marty was a past board member of Camp Courageous, a summer camp serving special needs children, in northwestern Ohio. He also volunteered for SCORE in Toledo. Recently, he was a dedicated volunteer at the Neighborhood Health Clinic in Naples and served on the Wyndemere Homeowners Asso- ciation Board. He was an active member of Trinity-By-The-Cove Episcopal Church in Naples and a past member of St. Michael's In The Hills Episcopal Church in Toledo, OH. Marty was married to Jean Cherry Anthony from 1955 until her death in 1989. He married Joann Bowman Baldwin in 1993. He is survived by his wife; three children, Emmett Martin (Jane) Duncan III of Brentwood, TN, Harbert Anthony Duncan of Frankfort, KY and Jean Duncan (William) Foster of Nashville, TN; three stepchildren, Nancy (Albert) Wagner of Woodbury, MN, John (Karen) Baldwin of Albany, CA and Cynthia (Jeffrey) Luchtefeld of Overland Park, KS. Marty was known as "Papa" to his grandchildren, Emily and Allison Duncan of Brentwood; and stepgrandchildren, Isabel, Drew, and Cricket Baldwin, and Connor, Zachary, and Nicolas Luchtefeld. A memorial service was held on Monday, November 26th, in Naples, FL. There will be a brief memorial service at St. Michael's In The Hills Episcopal Church in Toledo on Friday, December 14th, at 10:30 a.m. Private interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Neighborhood Health Clinic, 120 Goodlette Road North, Naples, FL 34102-5834 or Camp Courageous, 3350 Hill Avenue, Toledo, OH 43607.
