She was born August 2, 1922 in Fayette County, a daughter of Fred John and Edith (Gestel) Heeren. Ila married Orville W. Lewis on December 15, 1945 in Tampico, IL. He died August 1, 1996.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Pat Hopkins; one son, Bill Lewis; two brothers; and one sister.
Surviving are five children, John Lewis, Nikki Lewis, Jerry Lewis, Glen Lewis, and Tony Lewis; ten grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two brothers, Francis "Bud" Heeren and Donald Heerens; and four sisters, Clara Dobbeke, Priscilla Shelton, Velma Zimmerman and Emma Jones.
Ila was a homemaker and day care provider for many years.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of ashes will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Tampico.
