Woman, Long Oregon Resident, Victim of Heart Disease

After two months’ illness, Mrs. Susan C. Stott died at her home, 640 Ravenview Drive, yesterday from heart disease. Funeral services will be at St. Mary’s Cathedral tomorrow morning and interment will be in Riverside cemetery.

Mrs. Stott was born in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, April 7, 1842. Her father owned a large plantation on the Potomac River. At the age of 18, at a social function at the White House, she met Lansing Stout, the second Representative in Congress from Oregon, and they were married in 1861. Two years later Mr. Stout died in Portland. Their children are Mrs. James Laidlaw, Mrs. Charles Chenery and Lansing Stout. Another son, George Stout, died.

In 1876 Mrs. Stout married Judge Raleigh Stott, who died in 1901. The children by this second marriage are: Mrs. John E. Cronan and Plowden Stott. Mrs. Stott also is survived by two brothers and two sisters, F. F. Plowden, of Tacoma; W. D. Plowden, of Seattle, and the Misses Agnes and Mary Plowden, in St. Mary County, Maryland.
