STANDISH - Robert W. "Red" Alexander, 74, of Second Street, Standish, died Tuesday, March 16, 1993, at the CVPH Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 11, 1918, in Lyon Mountain, the son of Clifford and Ella Mae (Davis) Alexander.
Mr. Alexander had been employed at Republic Steel Corp. in Lyon Mountain until the mines closed in 1967. He then was employed by Marriott Corp at SUNY Pittsburgh until his retirement in 1980. He was married to the former Rita Seymour July 12, 1947, in St. Bernard's Church, Lyon Mountain. She died July 10, 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Cindy) Chase of Lyon Mountain; three sons, Robert and Keith of Saranac and Kevin of Cadyville; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Freda Whitfield of Lyon Mountain; and three brothers, Joseph of Peru, Thomas of Standish and Donald of Bedford, IN. Two brothers, James and Daniel Alexander, and a sister, Frances Gonzales, died earlier.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in Lyon Mountain Funeral Home. A vigil wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain with the Rev. David E. Wisniewski celebrating the Mass
of Christian burial. Burial will be at a later date in St. Bernard's Cemetery. A gathering and luncheon for friends and relatives will be held after the funeral service at the Sorrell Woodward Post 1623-American Legion Home in Lyon Mountain.
