Uhlman, James Addison "Jim" - 67, of Greenwood passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville with his family at his side. Born in Digby, he was a son of Olive (Johnson) Uhlman, Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown and the late Norman Uhlman. Jim was a former 14 year employee of McDonnell Douglas Corporation, Toronto; and in 1979 returned to Nova Scotia. Throughout the remainder of his working life he was employed as a carpenter with various local contractors, retiring from A.W. Allen's, Middleton. It was in this vocation that Jim demonstrated his skill as a finish carpenter and cabinet maker. He was an accomplished golfer and longtime member of Paragon Golf & Country Club, Kingston. It was while he was pursuing his passion for golf that he scored a hole in one on the 9th hole (Blue Monster) at the Doral Golf & Country Club in Florida; and travelled twice to Scotland and played the Old Course at St. Andrews. Surviving besides his mother Olive are brothers David (Norma), Kingston, Jamaica; Murray, Halifax; Garry (Rita), Kingston, NS; Malcolm (Judy), Greenwood and Stephen, Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. At Jims request, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation or to the Parkinson Society of Canada, Maritime Region.
