GLADE SPRING, Va. Stephanie Renee Grimes, age 43, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born in Portsmouth, Va., and had moved to Glade Spring in 1999. Stephanie had a great love for photography and art, she often created paintings of birds, biblical characters and animals. She loved all animals and was especially fond of dogs. Stephanie had a tremendous faith in God and her desire was to always do God's will in her life. She attended Washington Springs United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Delores Batkins Grimes; her maternal grandparents, Ann and Herman Batkins; and paternal grandparents, Nell and Tom Grimes. Survivors include her father, Thomas J. Grimes Jr. of Glade Spring; aunts, Jan and Tom Whitehurst of Glade Spring, Judy and Mike Hoback of Meadowview, and Nancy and Lloyd Sheets of Glade Spring; cousins, Erich Baldwin, Nathan Whitehurst, Jacob Sheets, Abram Sheets, Annie Sheets and Dayne Young; special great aunt, Polly Grimes of Glade Spring; and a very special friend of 26 years, Richard Hemple of Chesapeake, Va. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Washington Springs United Methodist Church in Glade Spring with Pastor Larry Lusk officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in the Baptist Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
