"Bare, David Wilbur - A resident of Grand Blanc, age 85, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2001 at Fenton Extended Care Facility. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Monday July 23 2001 at the Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, Rev. David Ray officiating. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday 1-4 and 6-8 PM. Contributions in memory of Mr. Bare may be made to the Halsey United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. David was born in Lake Ann, MI November 12, 1915, the son of Wilbur D. and Alta (Hoffine) Bare and graduated from Flint Northern High School "Class of 1934". He was united in marriage with Amelia Rosie Eurich in Flint November 12, 1944; she preceded him in death December 9, 2000. David was a member of the Halsey United Methodist Church, a 50th year member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, served with the Michigan National Guard before joining the service with the 319th Fighter Control Squadron of the US Army Air Corp. where he was stationed in the Pacific during WWII. He loved to sing and in his later years he sang with local groups such as the HollyHocks and the Pierce Chorus. He enjoyed a good game of horseshoes, working in his garden, and talking about various sports with friends and family. He also enjoyed writing his guest opinion column for the Flint Journal. Surviving: daughters, Beverly and husband Dr. Adger Butler of Detroit, Dawn and husband Chuck Bonney of Ypsilanti; grandsons David and Joel Bonney of Ypsilanti; several sisters-in-law including Mrs. BeBeBare of Ann Arbor; many nieces and nephews. In addition to this wife he was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister."
