Grand Island police have released the name of Renne Major-Taylor, a 28-year-old Grand Island woman who was killed by a train Sunday night.
Police Capt. Larry Trosper said Major-Taylor's mother was contacted on Monday and identified her body. However, Hall County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz wanted the results of a fingerprint test before releasing Major-Taylor's name, Trosper said.
Janulewicz, acting as Hall County coroner, will determine whether the death was a suicide or an accident. He was out of town on Tuesday and had not made that determination, Trosper said.
Major-Taylor was killed when she stepped in front of an eastbound train at the Broadwell Avenue and Burlington Northern Railroad crossing, which is just west of Ashley Park. Trosper said the accident occurred about 9:44 p.m. Sunday.
Gravesides services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Third City Christian Church.
