Born in Barnstone, East Riding, Yorkshire, England.

Parents were: Lemuel (Samuel) Fisher (1605–1665) and Anne Bradbury (1609–1706)

John came to the US on the ship "Welcome" with William Penn in 1682 on the ships first voyage arriving Oct 24, 1682 at Philadelphia.

In Foster's Grays Inn Register, John's name is listed as a student at Queens College and the he and John Hindley were admitted on the same day.

He served on the Second Grand Jury in Philadelphia "the very one that proscribed Margaret/Martha Mattson as a witch"in 1684. He was a glazier by trade.

They also had the following children: Thomas (b. 1669), John, James (b. 1673), Anne (b. 1674), Alice (b.1676) Rachell and Sarah (b. 1677) all in England.

He was married to Sarah Hutchinson on March 14, 1672 in Hull MM in Yorkshire, England.
