Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for A.L. (Al) Barnes Sr., 77, of 1911 Ella St. Mr. Barnes died Sunday at a Jefferson City hospital. Mr. Barnes was born Oct. 31, 1889, the son of W.T.S. Barnes and Marion Hall Barnes. In 1908 he was married to Sylvia Herr in Oklahoma. She died in 1929. On June 21, 1930, he was married to the former Christine Distler. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, A.L. Barnes Jr., 403 Mesa Ave.; three daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Webster, Kansas City, Kan.; Mrs. Mary Louise Herbert, Beaumont, Tex.; Mrs. Jack Scrivner, Rolla; two sisters, Mrs. Hugh Acock and Mrs. David Mallsbury, both of San Antonio, Tex. Three grandchildren survive.
Mr. Barnes founded the Home Construction Co. Aug. 21, 1952, and served as president. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Holy Name Society of that parish, Helias Council Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club.
The Rosary will be recited at the Dulle Funeral Home at 8 p.m. today. The Very Rev. Msgr. Gerald Poelker will officiate at funeral services. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
