READING, Mich. — Rita Kay Webb, age 71, of Reading, went home to meet her Savior on Friday, May 22, 2015, at Allegiance Health following a 3 year battle with cancer.

She was born Nov. 21, 1943, in Carryall Twp., Ohio, to Leo and Mazie (Troyer) Fruchey. Rita graduated from Reading High School, Taylor University, and Kent State with a Master’s Degree in education.


She taught elementary grades in Quincy Mich. and the Buckeye School System in Ohio for 31 years. Retiring in 2007, she moved back to Reading. Rita performed many tasks in the Church of the Nazarene, including Sunday School teacher, board member, missionary study chairman, choir member, pianist, organist, and most importantly: a pastor’s wife. She went above and beyond what was expected of her.

Rita also enjoyed gardening, flowers, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry A. Webb, whom she married March 17, 1968; two sons, Andrew Webb of Conneaut, Ohio and Greg Webb of Muncie, Ind.; one sister, Genevieve (William) Heindel of Reading; and one brother, M.L. Fruchey of Vermontville, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister-in-law, Sue Fruchey.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at EAGLE FUNERAL HOME-GEORGE WHITE CHAPEL in Reading.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Reading Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Jim Plank officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Reading.

Memorials may be directed to the Reading Church of the Nazarene or the Gideon’s International.
