Mozella B. Chapman, 85, died at Hillside Manor Nursing Home, Kingsport, after a long illness.

She was the daughter of the late A.L. and Willmeti Beason.

She co-owned and operated Chapman Brothers Lumber Company from 1952, retiring in 1970 due to poor health.

She was a charter member of First Baptist Church, Gate City, Va., and a Worthy Matron of Gate City Eastern Star Chapter 116.

Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Emmitt Chapman; one son, Hugh A. Chapman; two brothers; one sister.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Juanita M. Carter, Kingsport; two sons, Lloyd Joseph and Richard M. Chapman, both of Gate City, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Otta Lee Whitington, Spokane, Wash.

Calling hours are from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Gate City Funeral Home with an Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m. conducted by the Gate City Chapter 116 Order of the Eastern Star.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Redding officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holston View Cemetery.
