Samuel Ross was the youngest son to Joseph Harve Ross and Nancy Williams Ross. Ne was born in Nelson Co., KY. Samuel married Elizabeth Daniel Wortham Aug. 2, 1824 in Nelson County. They had at least 11 children; 9 daughters and 2 sons with the first son James being named after either his older brother or grandfather and other son Charles being named after his wife's father. Samuel Ross was a merchant and grocer in 1860 and 1870. He was a trustee of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church in 1854 when it was rebuilt with brick. Samuel and a Peter Abel purchased land from John Troutman for this church.
