Born May 15, 1930, in Mendota, the daughter of Hugh and Loraine (Stein) McGovern, Marianne married Harlyn A. Johnson on June 30, 1956, at St. James Catholic Church in Lee; he passed away June 21, 1981.
A 1948 graduate of Waterman High School, Marianne began working in 1954 for General Electric Company in DeKalb. She transferred to the Murfreesboro, Tennessee, GE Plant as a communications specialist in 1974 and retired there in 1988. Marianne moved back to DeKalb in 1990.
Marianne was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb.
Marianne will be missed by her family and friends. She will be remembered for her infectious smile.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Marlin Jordal; sister-in-law, Sharon Hartman; nephew, Bruce (Barbara) Jordal; nieces, Joanne (Joseph) Rivers, Ruth Ann (Lon) Myers, and Colleen (Scott) Johnson; great-nephews and -nieces; and nine great-great-nephews and -nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlyn; parents; sister, Margaret “Peggy” Jordal; and niece, Kathleen Knutson.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.
