Mrs. Alvaretta L. Armstrong, whose home had been in this city for most of her life, died yesterday at her home "The March" on Beach Hill. She was 83 years old and was born in Litchfield, Michigan. She came with her family to California in 1871, locating at Marysville, where she lived until 1875, at which time she came to Santa Cruz, making her home with an uncle, Z.S. Devoe. On May 4, 1877, she was married to W.F. March, who passed away on January 9, 1887. She lived a widow for eight years and was married to C.L. Armstrong on May 5, 1905, who passed away on June 12, 1921. Mr. March was for many years a leading lumber and mill man of Santa Cruz county and their family was one of the most prominent in the community.
