Funeral services for Mr. Charles Andrew Armistead, age 83, of Gilbertown, AL, will be held Sunday, May 24, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Melvin United Methodist Church in Melvin, AL, with Reverend Jessie Griffith, Reverend Patricia Grindle, and Reverend Michael Boutwell officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 24, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Melvin, AL.
Mr. Armistead passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015, at his residence in Gilbertown, AL.
He is survived by one son, Charles Ray Armistead (Shelia) of McCalla, AL; one daughter, Charolette Johnson (Jack Danuel) of Quitman, MS; one brother, William Armistead (Amelia) of Uriah, AL; two sisters, Margaret Godwin (Bill) of Gallion, AL and Mary Skelton (Bill) of Chunchula, AL; four grandchildren, Kristy Kennett (Bert), Danuell Hendrix (Brian), Brad Armistead, and Jennifer Donald; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ella Georgia McInnis Armistead, father Ellis Norman Armistead, and mother Carrie Gertrude Pope Armistead.
