Melba Neal, 86, of Grants Pass died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at Royale Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass. Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Mona Melba Wright on Sept. 4, 1912, in Los Angeles. She attended Huntington Park High School. She was married to Arnold R. Pohlman from 1929 to 1937, and had two children. On Jan. 24, 1945, she married Marion A. Neal, who preceded her in death on June 24, 1988. She lived in Southern California until the 1970s. She moved to Grants Pass in 1982 from Galt, Calif. She was a homemaker.

Neal enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Robinson of Williams and Joan Schmike of Lodi, Calif.; a son, Michael Neal of Grants Pass; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
