History and Genealogy of the Reed Family
"JOHN LEONARD RITH* (RIED, RIEDT, RIETH, RIT, REED, Etc.) Emigrated from the Palatinate, Germany, to America in 1710, and settled at Schoharie, New York State. Soon after many of these Livingston Manor colonists became dissatisfied from developed land troubles and migrated to the Tulpehocken region, in Berks County, Pennsylvania. John Leonard Reed was a leader in this German migration to Penn's colony, in 1722-1723. He was b. , 1691, in Europe; d. , 1747, in Marion Twp., Berks Co., Pa.; m. Lisa Catrina (tradition says she was of Indian blood) ; eight children:—
