OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, MARCH 23, 2004:
Alwin E. Wesley, age 86, a lifelong Hobart resident, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2004. Al was a graduate of Hobart High School, class of 1936. He was a 1978 retiree of Rockwell International in Gary after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Ainsworth-Deep River Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years. A lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hobart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward A. and Selma Wesley, his brothers, Herman, Walter and Paul Wesley, his sister, Lillian Liggett and his infant daughter Sharon Wesley. Survivors are wife of 62 years, Edith L. (nee Sievert) Wesley of Hobart, IN; one daughter, Karen E. (Bill) Day of Noblesville, IN; one son, Jack A. (Sylvia) Wesley of San Antonio, TX; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Edward E. Wesley of Wabash, IN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Drive, Hobart, IN. Rev. Gary Nagy and Rev. Marc L.F. Freiberg, Sr. officiating. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Hobart. Friends may meet with the family at the Burns Funeral Home (Hobart), corner of Rt 51 and 7th Street, on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. Al will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. (time of service). Contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Hobart.
