Celeste B. Johnson, 87, of Ennis, passed away peacefully May 19, 2015. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 25, 2015, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Ennis, with Father John Dick as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Ennis.

Celeste was born in Ennis, Texas, to the late Artie Lee and Celesta (Joly) Bohanon. Celeste enjoyed a variety of interests; however gardening was her passion. Time spent in the yard was time well spent in her mind’s eye. Creating a beautiful home for her family and a "destination" for friends gave her hours of pleasure. As matriarch, her goal in life was to keep the family close and God closer. She was a devout Catholic and in her later years, when she could no longer attend church, she faithfully followed daily Mass and Rosary via television. Her kindness and gracious demeanor endeared her to friends and family alike. She never lost her zest for life or keen sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her son, Geoffrey (Jeff) David; infant twins, Vincent Scott and Elizabeth Roxanne; sister, Thelma Speer; and brother, Artie Lee Bohanon, Jr.

Survivors include her children: Joe and Margo Whitley, Lonnie and Christie Gillihan, and Lisa Newhouse; grandchildren: Vincent, Kyle, Jacob and Andrea; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Dylan, Gabriel, Michelle, Emily and Reagan; sister, Bernadine Jurik and husband, Bill; brother, Bobby Bohanon; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
