She was born on July 1, 1931 in Haw Creek Township, Knox County, IL to Robert and Marjorie Swank Colwell. She married Richard L. Baughman in Galesburg on April 12, 1952. He survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Laura Appell of Galesburg, IL, six brothers, James Colwell, Oneida, IL, Henry Colwell, Galesburg, Frank Colwell, Galesburg, Harry Colwell, Winside, Nebraska, Kenneth Colwell, Abingdon, IL, and Danny Colwell, Galesburg, two sisters, Alice Gibbs and Nancy Gladfelter, both of Abingdon, IL, two grandchildren and a great grandchild.
A son, Richard L. Baughman, and two brothers preceded her in death.
She worked at J. C. Penny’s, the Top Value Stamp Redemption Store and Black Brothers Hardware Store. She then owned and operated the former Irv’s Lunch with her husband in downtown Galesburg.
She was a 1949 graduate of Galesburg High School and a former member of the Business and Professional Women.
Private memorial services will take place at a later date. Friends may call from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
