Philip Eugene Rucks Sr.
Philip Eugene Rucks, Sr. June 23, 1933 - June 20, 2006 Greenlawn Mortuary Graveside services will be held at South Kern Cemetery Chapel, Arvin, CA, Friday, June 23, at 10:00 a.m. for Phillip Eugene Rucks, Sr., 72, who passed away June 20, 2006. Pastor Ron Mullens will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, June 22, 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd. Dad was born on June 23, 1933, in Mulberry, Arkansas and resided in Kern County for 68 years. He was the first in Bakersfield to independently own and operate a home milk delivery service and later expanded to Lake Isabella. He was then involved with sales for Bob Mayo's Company and later owned and operated A-1 Carpet and Upholstery for over 25 years until his death. Dad dearly loved his hunting and fishing trips to Alaska. He was an avid sportsman, looking forward to the annual bird hunts. Even three days before his passing he was more interested in if there were any birds flying for this season and making sure deer tags were going to be bought for the up coming deer season. Dad loved his grandchildren dearly, making sure he was there at all birthday parties and gatherings with his trusty camera in hand. You could count on him to keep us with pictures of all events. He is survived by his daughters, Darlene Littrell and husband, John and children, Denise Byford, Eric Hughes and wife, Lisa, Diane Hamilton and husband, Bill and their children, Kris, Zack and Chelsea and Evalee Simmons and husband, Chuck and their children, Tommy, Phillip and Gabriel; son, Eugene Rucks and wife, Karen, and child, Justin; seven great- grandchildren; nephew that was like a son, Jimmy Rehanna and wife, Denise; sisters, Esther Rose and Glenda Rucks; brother, Edward Rucks; and Dad's longtime companion, Maxine Terry. His spirit and his winning smile, the twinkle in his eyes will forever be the memory to hold dear - we love you Daddy. We will miss you grandpa. Forever in our hearts.
