Marjorie Jean (Harker) Anderson was born December 10, 1923, in Aurora, Illinois to John J. and Alice (Kern) Harker and died on May 8, 2015, in Downers Grove, Illinois. She grew up on a farm in Sugar Grove and was always proud to be a farmer's daughter - in fact, she had quite a green thumb herself.

An excellent student with a curious mind, Marjorie attended Jericho School in Sugar Grove, where she skipped third grade and later won the American Legion award in eighth grade. After graduating from Sugar Grove High School in 1941, she earned a degree from the Metropolitan Business College in Aurora, and got her first job at Insulating Products in Aurora, where she met the love of her life, Gene W. Anderson, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy.

Marjorie and Gene married on Valentine's Day in 1945. The following year, they started their family, which would grow to include five daughters, Susan, Alice, Mary, Sarah and Nancy. Marjorie devoted herself to her girls as they were growing up, sewing clothes, baking special treats, serving as a Girl Scout leader and room mother, and making sure every one of them went to college.

When her daughters were older, Marjorie worked alongside her husband in the company he started in 1967: Liqui-Trol Systems, Inc. When the two of them retired in 1991, Liqui-Trol had installed water-pressure booster systems throughout the United States and the world. Marjorie was also a past president of the Jericho Cemetery Association.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Susan Harding; sister, Shirley Harker; and son-in-law, Christopher Hedberg.

She is survived by her daughters, Alice (Thomas) Mindrum, Mary (Jon) Eddings, Sarah (Edward) Kulzer, and Nancy Hedberg; and by her son-in-law, Dennis Harding. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, James, Christopher (Elaine) and Eric Mindrum; and Andrew, Daniel and Amanda Hedberg.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 15, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m., at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive, Sugar Grove, Illinois 60554, followed by the burial at Jericho Cemetery in Sugar Grove.
